Being released in connection with the 30th anniversary of The Little Mermaid is the evil sea witch Ursula. From the press info, “This youthfully styled Sea Witch features a lavender vinyl head with full-color imprinted facial details and airbrush accents and rooted white saran hair.  Over her lavender plastic body, she wears and a tailored black velvet, satin and lace fabric dress with teal chiffon accents and black chiffon and purple faux-leather layered peplum ruffle, worn over plush-filled tentacles covered with metallic purple sequins.”

In celebration of the 60th anniversary of Sleeping Beauty, we also have the delightfully dark Maleficent. “This youthfully styled Mistress of all Evil features a gray-green vinyl head with full-color imprinted facial details with airbrush accents and rooted black saran hair with metallic purple accents, styled into “horns”.  Over her gray-green plastic body, she wears and a tailored black and purple satin fabric dress and cape with purple metallic trim and accented with a green and silver plastic brooch.

D23 attendees were able to purchase the deluxe releases, which included Ursula with lackey’s Flotsam and Jetsam and Maleficent with her raven Diablo. Both of these dolls were limited to 700 and sold exclusively at The Disney Store’s D23 shop on the expo floor. They’re on eBay for a pretty penny, so unless you really want the exclusive dolls, you may want to just keep your eyes open for the wide release of these two new dolls later this month!

I personally love that they’re spicing up the Disney Animators’ Collection with some new dolls. It’s needed something to draw attention to it for a while now. Adding villains seems like the perfect way to revitalize it! What do YOU think of these adorable toddler versions of Ursula and Maleficent? Let us know in the comment area!
